I will be out of the office beginning September 18th 2026 and returning September 28th 2026. During this time, I will not be checking or responding to emails, text messages, or phone calls/voicemails. I will respond to emails, texts, and voicemails within 3 business days of my return. Psychology services including individual therapy, mental health and ADHD assessments, and workshops

Individual Therapy

  • During our first session, I will spend some time asking you about who you are, what brings you to therapy, and what your goals for therapy are. I also send a form in advance of our time together to more information about you. The following sessions are focused more on your concerns. This will include exploring your presenting issues and struggles a bit more in depth and then working towards facilitating insight about these concerns. We will explore your past as well as your current thoughts, feelings and behaviours. We will then work together on taking what you learn within therapy and applying it to your life. I offer both in-person and virtual sessions

  • My rate for a 50 minute psychology session is $220. I also offer 30 minute sessions for $110 and 80 minutes fo $330. If you have insurance, your insurance will likely cover some or all of the cost of a session with a psychologist - please check with your insurance provider.

    I offer direct billing for a number of insurance companies, so please feel free to reach out to see if I offer direct billing for your insurance provider. At this time, I am unable to direct bill for SunLife.

    I recognize that it's not always easy to afford therapy. As such, I have a limited amount of spots for reduced rate therapy sessions as well. Please send me an email at melissa@mkpsychotherapy.ca to inquire.

Because there is a no one-size-fits-all approach to working with people, I pull from many different therapeutic approaches. Some of these include attachment theory, emotionally focused therapy, compassion-focused therapy/self-compassion, cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy skills, exposure and response prevention, mindfulness, solution-focused brief therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)

Assessments

Melissa is currently undergoing additional training and supervision to be able to provide psychodiagnostic assessments, as well as full ADHD assessments and OCD assessments. Melissa is under supervision of Dr. Christine Knight while gaining experience in the area of providing diagnostic assessments. Please note at this time, Melissa does not offer psychoeducational or autism assessments.

For a limited time, Melissa will be offering a reduced rate assessments as she gains more experience in these areas. Assessments are generally covered by most insurance providers. Please check in with yours to ensure coverage.

Prices are as follows:

General Mental Health Assessment (Psychodiagnostic) - $1200

Career Inventory/Assessment - $500

ADHD Assessment - $1400

  • Need direction for next steps with your mental health? I can help you with that. I provide assessments for overall mental health, which can help to identify potential difficulties in your life, overall functioning, and to summarize personality characteristics. The assessment results can be used to help with either your current or future therapist have a larger snapshot of what’s going on, and can help to identify possible areas to work with in therapy.

    A general mental health assessment includes an 80 minute clinical interview, assessment administration, 50 minute debrief session with you, and optional consultation/debrief with your therapist with treatment recommendations.

    Written report and additional assessments are additional fees. You will not be charged for these unless you request for these services or additional assessments are deemed appropriate.

  • If you’re looking for next steps with your career or are feeling a bit stuck, a career inventory might help you to get a little momentum and understanding of where to go. Utilizing the Strong Interest Inventory, which will be provided to you in advance of your appointment, we will go through your results and brainstorm some options for next steps either in your current workplace, a new career transition, or finding ways to create a bit of meaning and purpose in addition to, or outside of your job.

    A career inventory/assessment includes a 50 minute initial interview, inventory administration, and 50 minute debrief appointment. You will also receive a copy of your inventory report for you to refer back to later.

  • Wondering if you may have ADHD? Melissa can help with finding some answers to get a better understanding of what you are navigating through.

    ADHD assessments are generally a bit more comprehensive and include an 80 minute initial interview, both remote and in-person testing, and a 50 minute debrief session along with a report.
